In 1988, Peter Festus Egan and his wife, Dr. Pamela Egan, co-founded Egan Home Health Hospice. This company flourished over 32 years, expanding to nine local offices and employing more than 400 people. The company gained a strong reputation in both local and regional healthcare markets, leading to its acquisition by a large national provider.

Before embarking on this entrepreneurial journey, he had already accumulated significant experience in healthcare management, serving as an administrator for a prestigious psychiatric hospital for eight years. He learned how to handle intricate healthcare operations and ensure patient well-being there.

His career has seen numerous milestones, but he is most proud of the growth and development of his home health companies. From modest beginnings, these companies expanded their reach to nine local offices, employing more than 400 professionals. The firms gained a solid local and regional reputation and were eventually acquired by a national provider.

Acknowledging his leadership and healthcare expertise, he served as a state home care association board member. In 2019, his contributions and accomplishments were recognized with the esteemed Hall of Honor award. Additionally, he served on the Pharmacy Advisory Board of the Joint Commission for a decade. As the largest accrediting body for healthcare institutions in the country, the Joint Commission establishes standards for all levels of healthcare delivery.

Beyond his professional achievements, he is actively engaged in philanthropic activities. He participates in James Samaritan, an organization that supports young individuals aging out of foster care. As part of a group, he helps provide guidance and resources to these young people as they transition into independent adulthood.

Egan and his wife were previously involved in Safe Harbor, an organization offering shelter and support to women and children facing abusive situations. Although their participation has waned, their dedication to positively impacting those in need is still evident.
